How to rank higher on Google Maps as a roofer

Google decides who shows up in the map box using three things: how relevant your listing is to the search, how close you are to the person searching, and how well known and trusted your business looks. You can't move your office, so the work is on the other two.

The fixes, in order

  1. Main category set to "Roofing contractor." If it says "Contractor," Google files you next to remodelers.
  2. More reviews, every month. Ask every customer. See how to get more Google reviews.
  3. Same name, address and phone everywhere. Your Google listing, website, Facebook, Yelp and other directories should match exactly.
  4. A complete profile. Hours, services, a real description, and at least 10 photos of your own work.
  5. A website that backs it up. A page for each service and each town you serve, your phone number tappable, and business details for Google (schema).
  6. Regular activity. New photos and a Google post after jobs.

What doesn't work

Rankings move over weeks, not days. Fix the basics once, then keep the review and photo habits going.
