Why your business is not showing on Google Maps

Most of the time, a business that doesn't show on Google Maps has one of five problems. Check them in this order.

1. The profile isn't verified

Unverified profiles often don't show at all. Sign in to your Google Business Profile and look for a verification prompt. Google usually asks for a short video or a phone check.

2. It shows, just not for your search

Search your exact business name. If you appear for your name but not for "roofer near me," you're listed but not ranking. That's a ranking problem, not a missing listing. See how to rank higher on Google Maps.

3. The listing is suspended

Google suspends listings for things like keywords in the business name, a fake address, or duplicate listings. Your profile dashboard shows a warning if this happened, and you can appeal from there.

4. It's a service-area business with the wrong settings

If you visit customers instead of having them visit you, set a service area and hide your address. A wrong setup can make your listing behave oddly on the map.

5. The details don't match

A different name, address or phone on your website and other directories makes Google less sure about your business. Make them all match exactly.
